Madikwe Game Reserve
Created in 1991, this 75,000ha reserve not only preserves the fauna & flora of the area, but also provides a sustainable environment for the local people. The reserve is malaria free & contains the Big Five as well as black & white rhino, wild dog, cheetah & extensive plains game. Due to the Madikwe Game Reserve's unique location of being a Kalahari transition zone, over 340 species of birdlife (both resident & migrant) are also found in the area. Daily scheduled flights into the reserve are available, alternatively travelling by road takes approximately three & a half hours from Johannesburg.
